A Gecko Christmas!

StarGecko Dec 24, 2003 02:52 AM

So I'm going to be going away for a few days for the holidays soon, so I got my gex some special christmas prezzies- big yummy treats. I got 15 pinkies and 25 big and medium silkies (about $25 in food), and fed them all tonight. A couple gex haven't eaten their pinkies, some don't go for them, but am happy that my 2002 gex that are finally big enough for silkies seem to love them, and they seem to be very much enjoyed by my other gex as well. I witnessed one gecko eat at least one pinkie (may have been two, I didn't see which gecko ate the other one) and two big silkies (the silkies were about 6 hours after the pinkie). I'll have mealies for them but figure it is a good time to give a big meal, as well as pinkies being good for my female breeders before the season starts.

With the food some of the adults ate they should be okay without food for a week, but is pre-breeding conditioning season so I'm looking to add some grams on some of the females (this should help!). The subadults didn't get pinkies and will probably get hungry, except maybe the girl that scarfed down two medium silkies. Nice thing about silkies is they are so soft bodied, easy for the gex to eat even though they are large. I think I'm going to get a bunch more silkies in early january, the big ones have more mass than a pinkie, should be good for putting healthy weight on the females without too much fat content.
