I have a question for the breeders of leopard geckos... I currently have two corn snakes which I maintain and have successfully bred the past two years. I do not do this for profit, but for the pure enjoyment of doing so. I have been able to get rid of my hatchlings for a very low cost to a local (family owned) pet store that I really support because of the knowledgeable salespeople etc. I am confident that I am experienced enough in the keeping of reptiles that I can successfully keep leopard geckos, yet my main question for the breeders, is - are most (or all) of the current traits exhibited in leopards simple recessive traits, and if so what would be the most interesting combination that would provide the greatest variation in offspring? (I understand that a good combination of hets will do it, but because the leopard gecko lingo is different from corns, and I just want to be sure to maximize the experience for myself...)- I have a male, amelanistic corn (practically a sunglow for those who are familiar with corns)- he is almost pure orange and red, het for anerythrism, and a female ghost corn (anery hypo), het for amel, so i get normals, snows, anery's and amels, (and possibly hypo's - i do not yet know that the male is/ is not het for hypo.) -- I find just about every morph of leopards attractive, but want to stay in the $150 and under range for the actual animals. Thanks, sorry for the long post!
