I think it depends on the water in your area. We have very good water quality here so I use tap water. If you are not sure about the quality of the water in your area use bottled water.
Do Not use distilled water. Tap water or bottled water.
good luck with your new snake.

Distillation removes all the electrolytes, trace minerals, etc., that are necessary in the body for normal function. Once the distilled water enters into the body's cells, I believe it causes the cells to draw these critical elements in from other sources in the body through cell wall osmosis instead of releasing into the body, as would be done from normal water. This creates an imbalance, or deficiency of these critical elements in the body. Not sure if this explanation is 100% correct, but I think its pretty close in explaining why distilled water use is harmful for all organisms.

Merry Christmas to All!

>>Thanks for answering that question Kevin.
I was looking up the reasons when I saw your post.
Pretty good answer.
I had heard and read about the dangers but couldn't remember the exact reasons.
I didn't think "because" would be a good enough answer....lol

I use one of those water filter pichers just to filter out any contaminates (sp), but I do not dechlorinate.
