Ft. Bragg Herpin

On Post I would search Manchester Lake southern part (swamp). I also have had luck along the little river over by Pope Air Base.

Puppy Creek at the southern end is good swamp. Watch for Copperheads. The largest one I have ever caught was just as puppy creek leaves Post into Hoke County. I use to cruise to Camp McCall and walk the edge of the drop zone found pigmies, large pines, and hognose there. June was always best diving at night way down by Holland DZ and Manchester Lake. I would catch them on the road there. Spent many years stationed there and enjoyed the duty and the herpin/fishing.

Check with DNR over at Rod and gun club by the Deer check in station. Make sure the laws have not changed in that State. I would check range control to see if anyone is occupying that particular training area. It has been 5 years since I have hunted these areas. Retired and came home. (H-)
Good Luck, Dann
