sand/tile combination

cs Dec 24, 2003 04:38 PM

I currently have my leo on very fine sand. She is about 6-7 inches long, but I still don't really want to risk impaction. So, I was thinking I would throw some ceramic tiles in around her food dish and water dish, but I would maybe leave the areas where my leo likes to do her business and the area over the UTH as sand. My reasoning for this is the poo is easier to scoop out on sand, and I want my leo to be able to regulate her own temp by changing the thickness of the sand over the UTH (i've seen her do this before).

I guess my question is, does the removal of the sand around her food and water source enough to reduce the risk of impaction? And also, i've heard that non-glazed tiles are the way to go; is this true and why?

Thanks guys

What makes scooping poop out of sand easier then hosing it off tile? I really think tile is much easier. You just take it out of the cage, and rinse too poo poo off.
