How old is you Sav? How long is it? What size cage is it kept in? What are the temps in that cage? What are you feeding it? These are important questions can you answer them for me? Has your Savannah seen the vet yet? The fact that it's black in color worries me. Most dark colored Savs are under heated and very malnourished. I'm not saying that yours is but it very well could be.
Give me some more info.

as far as getting him to stop running into the walls, you could always tape some paper up to the clear sides to help get him acclamated. That's what we did with my Timors. And yes, it can eventually harm him. Monitors that persist at rubbing their noses against their cage (i'm not talking like a day or a week, but over a long period of time) can get rub nose. It's not especially life threatening but it does detract from the aesthetic quality of your baby.

he doesnt rub but he only runs into it when he sees his food and he seems really calm any other time its only when he sees food coming the paper would work but i also like watching him interact with the stuff in his cage and he likes to watch tv from ontop of the hide box... or maybe he just likes to look out that side of his cage

thanx
