!!!!! I held him for 15 long minutes!!!!!

Belizethebeardie Dec 25, 2003 03:59 AM

Once I found a possition he was comfy with(almost his entire body covers by my extra big hoody I was able to hold Belize for 15 minutes before he stood up and stared at me. I couldn't touch the top of him though, all he'd let me do was stroke his chin. I knwo i heard that stimulates most dragons, but I do believe it calmed him. He closed his eyes and spread out all comfy like and slowed his breathing. He just sat there all nice and still and content. Took a bit for him to stop sturggling and crawling over my arms, but once he settled, we had a nice little moment. He was completely calm when I put him back, he just hopped right off my hands like a happy camper.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I hope next time is as easy as this one.

of course in a gentle, loving, calm way........we have l0 lizards of different
not all of the same species and once they figure out that you wont harm them
or think they are a potential snack.......they enjoy the attention and its not just
because we are warm........beardies especially seem to really enjoy their human encounters.
my two beardies especailly like when it is their turn to hang on the couch with my hubby on his chest and they
go to sleep.....they look so blissful.......in this case they like the company and the heat alot!

Bravo!!!

just keep it slow and he'll soon forget the bad maners....

also if he likes greens have a supply at hand and offer him some while on / near you so that he starts to connect food with you and handling --- and then he'll forget about the bad stuff and sometimes he'll come to you when he wants some fresh greens.
