Today on christmas my kingsnake ate after rejecting food for 2-3 month =)). It was amazing, i put a big fat mouse in his tank and he went totally freaked out, with open mouth he chased it and strangled it so hard the blood spit on the glas of my terrarium heh. After taking the mouse into his hiding place to eat it he went to the water bowl for a nice bath and then went sunning under the light. What an aggresive eaters these kings are.

Yea its a california king, really easy to take care of. Tank is
32 inch long, 16 inch deep and 20 inch high. They can grow to 5-6 feet, mine is close to 5.5 - 6 feet. But when they are young they can sometimes be a pain in the ass, some of them musk a lot when being handled or are very nervous... make sure to ask them if its doing those things before you end up having a snake you will need to get quit musking and tame.... thats just my opinion since its really anoying to get them quit doing that.
Also remember that they can reject food till jan or feb cuz of the winter season.

How different DO adult kings act from young kings? I have a hard time visualizing mine all grown up. When you hold them, are they still edgy about how fast you move or where your hands are? When they're older, do they move slower and mostly hold still? I first got a king because i heard they were really docile, but i never heard how they were as young ones or anything, and i haven't seen an adult, so i have no idea what I got myself into really.

before we start im not a big expert or porfessional with snakes but do have spend the last 5 month reading a lot and learning a lot.

I think a lot of people got their own vision on this. My experience with a young king isnt very good since at that time i didnt had much experience with snakes and the snake i had musked all the time and was very nervous which is kinda hard for someone who is new to snakes. I think it all comes down that each snake is diff and 1 can be very calm and the other can be very nervous but it is possible to get them to calm down in most cases as long as you are willing and are able to spend the needed time on them. Now i also have 2 little rainbow boas and no trouble at all... very friendly and very calm. I guess you just need to be a bit of lucky. But im sure that how older your snake gets the calmer he becomes (except when its feeding time haha). Just make sure when you buy a young snake their is still a possibility to return it and change it for another snake if you dont like and it causes you too much time or trouble.

I hope this helps a bit

Michiel

Oh and i forgot to add, snakes will always respond scared too fast movements... always move slowly and let them see whats you are doing.

Thats a beautifull snake, and i think most of the grow part is up to how much you feed your snake. My boas grow around 1.5 inch a month heh. But it seems you were lucky and a got a nice snake, have fun with him =p
