He is probibly just climbing to climb. In the wild 80% humidity is normal for them. If they lived below that they would dry out and die. They abosrb water through their skin so it has to stay humid.

I think you humidity guage is wrong. Analongs will almost always give a false reading. (I have never seen a analog give a correct reading) Judging by the glass your humidity is well above 70%. Go to wal-mart or some place and get a digital humidity guage temp guage combo for about $15 and they can be placed in the tank.

Nice frog

thanks for the reply, i dont know if its "wrong" maybe inacurate! but its litrally just below the air vent (whichs often has no condensation around it...)

if the frogs are climbing up the glass, should i be providing more for them to cliimb on?

Thanks for the repl mate

what does the rest of your tank look like? If you post a picture, you might get some suggestions from the experienced froggers.

Maybe they're trying to tell you it's to hot or cold in the tank by moving towards the fresh air source OR maybe they are trying to make a run for it!!

Hi,

Galactanotus are a slightly arboreal frog and like to climb more than most other Tinc class frogs. Mine really seem to like a high calling spot within the tank. I would suggest that you add a corked background because I believe that they feel more secure in such a setting. You tank also dose not look like it has much cover so perhaps you should add a plant or two such a selegennela plana or a miniature monstera species (sinpactus pictus is also nice.) Your plants that are currently in your tank (with the exception of the one on the far right) will out grow your tank in a matter of months, you have a small species of palm (it will die) and a rubber tree (will grow to large in the unlikely event that it lives.) I suggest redoing your tank and even increasing humidity (some frogs feel more secure when it is around 100%) you can do this with an ultrasonic transducer and use my plans (or someone else’s) that I were posted a while ago. I hope that this helps.

I'd remove all of the plants you have growing in there now--They are not good terrarium plants and will out-grow it soon, while not providing the right cover for the frogs. Don't remove them immediately, of course. Plant some vining plants, pilea, pepperomia, miniature ivy, ficus, etc. first, and add some cork bark or cocoas panel to the back side for some bromeliads. My splash-backs like bromeliads to sit and soak in. Selaginella, heart fern and other tropical ferns are also nice for planting in the substrate. Splash backs are heavy frogs and don't climb glass out of choice. I suspect yours are looking for cover or seeking out something they don't have. (Thumbnails such as imitators do climb glass regularly.) These don't seem to have enough cover, and could use a smooth branch of some sort to climb upon, with a vining plant growing on it, as well as some caves or shelters-- either cocoanut shells or pieces of curved bark.

Oddly, the more cover you give for your frogs, the bolder and more interesting they will be.

okay so ive added more cover into my tank...

the branch ive added adds height and cover too, its placed on a peice of bark, and in half a coco nut to try and stop mould growing, which ive noticed does quite well in this tank (only very small amount noticed in coco-hides... not on the bark you see...

can anyone give me any feedback please?

i recon i could do with a backing to make the viv more "secure" for the animals?

2 of the frogs are under the new branch now as soon as i put it in, hmmm looks liek a good move.

Hi,

That should help your frogs. They will spend a few days in the cover of the log but when they eventually emerge they will be both more active and more interesting. I would add a background because it gives your frogs more area to climb on. You really should replace your plants with ones that will live.
