Nice Christmas tree

MsTT Dec 25, 2003 01:07 PM

Simple holiday decor at my house, nothing fancy. Origami paper ornaments (they're not snake-breakable) and some happy tree sitting time for an Eastern green mamba.

I tried shooting a few other snakes on the tree, but these came out the best. My 54" copperhead aka the Big Pink Car Tire bent the branches and nearly tipped the darn thing over, so we didn't get any good shots of her.

This is the other shot that came out not too badly. Male Pope's viper, originally raised by Budman.

Yes that is your Pope's from years back.

Yes I messed with the graphics and made all the colors look brighter than they are in real life. This is an artsy Christmas card, not a classified ad. LOL I only color-tweak snake photos if I'm doing something like this where it's an art project and not supposed to be a photorealistic image of what the snake really looks like. Not into fooling people, just making a pretty Christmas card.

PS - despite the reasonably controlled conditions of the photo shoot, the set in my living room wasn't big enough or enclosed enough for me to work Sunkist on the tree with any kind of reasonable safety margin - he'd have been all over the tree in a flash and then under the sofa or the fridge or some other bad place. I judged that my 6' green mamba was the size safety limit for the amount of open space I had to work in.

Sunkist has been gobbling down unscented jumbo rats by the handful and has grown to remarkable proportions both in size and bad temper. He is the big bad dominant male cobra in the neighborhood and he wants everybody to know it. LOL I would like to get more photographs of him on a good set, but I cannot build a safe photo set for him in my home that is anywhere near large enough to accommodate a snake of his size and speed. I'm talking to a local nature photographer about some possibilities though.

Thanks for the Sunkist update, TT. Definitely LOL on the "wants everybody to know it". Whenever time allows, pics are appreciated. Thanks. A spectacular snake, no doubt about it.

Hmmm...and I still don't know why my wife puts up a fuss when I try to get a pretty green ribbon like that for our tree.
