Moody Ball Python

rubymoon Dec 25, 2003 04:06 PM

I have 2 ball pythons. One is about a year and a half old and the other is 10 months or so. The older one I've had for about 2 months and is doing great. The younger one, which I have had for about 3 months, is normally sweet, mild tempered and was eating well when I first got it. Since about a week after it's last shed (Which did not go well)it refuses food, has become dull instead of shiny like it was before, and very anti social, not wanting to be held, spending most of its time in its hide box, and today it struck at the glass as I approched its tank which its never done before. I had kept them in seprate tanks for the first month that I had the older one and recently moved them in together which seemed to be going fine until very recently. Could this have something to do with its grouchy behaivior? since the issue today I have put it back into its own tank. I'm planning on getting it into the vet right after the holiday but I'm just wondering if anyone who is more experienced with ball pythons than me could give me some ideas about what could be wrong with it.

As a conservative guess, if the shed was difficult, I would say that your humidity levels are too low.

I would say that the younger one was stressed from being in a cage with your other BP. They need to have their own seperate cages for many reasons, health, stress.... ect. Also check your humidity levels because of the bad shed.
