melanistic???

i got this corn snake but it is very dark in color could it be a melanistic?

That doesn't look like a corn. I've got a couple corns that have a dark muddy overwash on them (they look almost black in poor lighting), but they're all old and big, when they were small they were quite bright lil animals.

Post a head pic, that'll help us ID better.
