Testing a new bedding...

DeanAlessandrini Dec 25, 2003 07:51 PM

What I've done here is created a blend between "cell-sorb" paper bedding, + topsoil + peat moss.

The cell sorb is actually chemically supposed to counteract the smell of ammonia. I added in the other items for humidity, to gove the snake a little more natural feel and smell, and to reduce costs. (cell-sorb is expensive)

after testing for a month...and only spot cleaning...no smell whatsoever! I keep newspaper only in the his area, and that is where he is fed.

Where do you find cell-sorb (never heard of it), and what ratios are you using in the mix?

I buy it locally at a lab-supply store.
Some pet stores carry it. If you do a google search, I'm sure you can find some distributors.

Basically, I used 2 parts cell sorb, 1 part top soil, 1 part peat moss.

I'm really happy with the results so far.

First, please put me on the list for one of HIS offspring! Then, I think I saw some cat litter with the word "cell-sorb" in its name. Could you please check out www.petcarecentral.com and tell me if the "Cell-Sorb Litter" looks like what you're using? That sure would be nice as far as cleaning goes.

P.S. The yellow-tails are doing absolutely great! That female is really a knockout.

Thanks in advance.
