well i got my little girl(shinisaurus) she is tiny and cute i have her set up in a 10gal. fairly plain with a perfect molded rock cave hallow inside with multiple entrances a neat twisted branch for climbing and and some live aquarium grass. the water depth is around 1 1/2in deep. i also placed a small ceramic food dish near the cave so she can see into it from the branch or top of cave. she has not fed on her own but i have got her to take a small cricket and mealworm "not the same day" buy getting her to open her mouth. i hope once setteled she will take food on her own. if you have any sugestions let me know. thanks talk to ya chris

Don't take any of this the wrong way, but I don't know your expirence level with reptiles. From the sounds of things you have a lot of the things a croc lizard likes (plenty of places to hide). I have a butterfly agama that wouldn't eat for the first week I had it, but it was drinkng. I attribute this to tank was too small, temps were not on target, and I had know idea what I was doing (my first reptile). I moved him to a 29 gallon tank and got my temps right, and now the crix don't stand a chance. I've never worked with a croc lizard, but from what I've read about them, they love to hide. Take a look at http://www.agamainternational.com/crocodilurus.shtml it may be of some help. Best of luck to you.

Hi,

I stopped by and saw Bryan on my way back east for the holiday. He was kind enough to take me back and show me the remaining babies.

He had them set up with some sort of filter inside each cage and I was very impressed with the job it was doing. Also, he had a UVB 8.0 4' bulb and a regular 4' bulb in a shoplight suspended over all the cages. Some of his specimens were out "basking", or at least appeared to be doing so.

I was impressed with the setup and would certainly duplicate it if I had them. If you are having any trouble with yours eating, leave it alone and set the cage up so that you can track all prey items introduced.

Good luck.
