burned belly will he still breed????

bhali Dec 26, 2003 12:39 PM

hi,
I need some help.
I am relatively new to bp's and I noticed today that
one of my males had some injury on about 1/3rd of his belly.
I am atributing this to spending to much time on the hot end
of the bin.
they have a basking spot of about 92 degrees and the cool side is 85
I have 9 balls of various sizes and he is the only one that was affected
I was planning on breeding him in a few weeks and would like to
know if this will affect his breeding capability.
such as sperm production.
If anyone can help please I will appreciate it.

Will he be all right at all? Are all nine snakes together? Have you changed the circumstances he was kept in? Take the poor thing to the vet and stop worrying about him breeding until after you've helped heal him.

I'm asking for advice and your being obnoxious!!!

You're being unthinking and uncaring about the well being of your animal. If you think it's a burn, you should be finding out for sure if it actually is. (and no you can't really diagnose these things over the internet, especially with the short description you gave) If it really is a burn you should be treating it rather then worrying about breeding. While your setup does not SOUND too hot, how are you measuring the temps? Yes, excessive heat will kill sperm. It can also kill your snake. Dead snakes do not breed well..... Don't worry about the breeding so much and worry more about the well being of your animal.

What's YOUR point? Great addition to the discussion. Glad everyone cares for the animals so much.

its good to give advice. i just thought the who cares??? title was a little rude. of course he should get the snake healthy before he worries about breeding it but you cant asume he didnt do that. the advice was great but your reply title was a little harsh. sorry if mine seemed harsh as well. dont stop giving advice, thats why people come here.
