48 hours is a good time to wait, but look to see if the lump is gone. Once the lump is gone it is safe to hold the snake.

I personally wait around 5 day once i introducing any of my corns into an enviroment. I know you dont have to wait that long but I want them to feel secure. I always wait 48 hours before holding my snakes after eating as well. it's just what I do an everyone is unique but I do know that almost everyone will say to give them 3 days at least to acclimate to its surroundings. I just like to baby my snakes.

At this time I only have thirteen corns and two rat snakes so I handle them everyday. Yes, everyday. I like to keep them used to handling. They are all very tame and the worst reaction I ever get is an occaisonal, slight musking from my male Bairds rat snake.
I feed my snakes every Saturday and I will check them on Sunday to make sure all is well. I handle them gently but I do get them out of their containers and check for any possible regurgitations. As long as you are gentle and do your best not to stress them (know your animals) you can handle them daily.
BUT, do not take them and walk around the house and keep them out of their container for more then just a couple of minutes within the first 24 to 36 hours of feeding.
One other note...be carefull between the third to fifth days after feeding. This is when most people decide to handle their snakes and if they are in optimum conditions this is also about the time they have digested their food and are ready to defecate.
Now as my collection grows it will probably get to the point where I won't have time to handle all of my snakes but there will be a few that I will always take the time to handle. I guess I would call them my "base" group. My pet snakes.
Now this might go against a lot of the advise you may hear but it works for me. If the thought of handling so soon after feeding makes you nervous then wait a day or two.
The main thing is to know your animals. You will learn what they will or will not tollerate and can adjust your care to their particular personailties (for lack of a better word).

thats funny my corns have never musked on me yet. I know what it smells like cause there is a lot of little ringnecks, garter, and ratsnakes near my house that i catch, photo, and release, it's pretty nasty
