I just got a digital camera and tried to show a pic of my California Kingsnake but it doesn't work can someone explain to me how this works so I can get the photo through?
A reponse would greatly be appreciated.
Thank You
To post a pic on this forum (or anywhere on the internet for that matter) it has to be housed on a publicly accessible web server. Your photo is being housed on your computer which is not publicly accessible (for good reason!).
In other words, you are trying to show us a photo that is stored on your personal computer (in this location - c://WINDOWS//Application Data//OLYMPUS//Camedia Master 4//Album//Samples//CALLIE//PC270010.JPG).
In order for the public to see your photo, it must be stored (uploaded) to a public directory, such as the kingsnake.com photo gallery. As a forum user, you can upload a certain aount of pics up to the gallery for free under your username. Go to
the gallery link under the main heading on any KS.com page to get there and find and choose the upload your photos links.
Then when you post, you will be able to choose your photo from the "Select image from Photo Gallery" scroll-down list at the bottom of the message posting page.
Another important point to consider before posting - the file/image size! A lot of new pic posters just take that output of their digital camera and try and post it here. Remember, some of your adience are looking at the photo at a screen resolution if of 800x600. This means if you post a 1600x1200 image, they won't be able to see it all at once, which is annoying to say the least. A pic that is 600x450 or so is usually a good size.
Another thing to remember is a lot of viewers have dial up modems. Therefore, in deference to them, it is generally poor netiquette to post a picture with a file size over 75Kb as it will take too long for them to download.
So
1. resize your photos to a reasonable size
2. select a level of compression to get the file size down below 75kb
2. upload to the KS.com photo gallery account
and everything should work like a charm!
