Can you Identify this MHD?

dextar Dec 26, 2003 08:44 PM

I'm back, I just got a better picture of Merlin. I have only owned him for a few days now (but I already love him =).

Well, I was wondering if any of you guys/gals, could identify exactly what kind of MHD this is? The store I bought him from didn't know exactly what kind he was, but from what I have looked up, I would assume A. Capra, but possibly an Armata? I'm not sure, so if you guys could give a shot at it I would be ecstatic. Also I circled a lump behind his hind leg and above his tail. I asked in my previous message if you guys knew exactly what it was, but I think this picture gives a clearer view of it.

One more question if you guys don't mind. I was trying to feed him crickets, which he didn't care for at all. And thanks to froggieB's advice I ran out and got some superworms and nightcrawlers. He loves the superworms, but they seem to find ways to crawl out of his feeding dish. Will he be able to dig them out of the substrate, or do I need to try and keep them in his feeding dish? Also, is it bad for them to live in the substrate? I know the nightcrawlers won't last long either in the substrate or the feeding dish, so I'm going to try and limit him to 1 NC, a day.

Thanks in advance for any help you all can offer,
Derek

He is definitely an A. Capra, looks pretty good too. As for the lump you are talking about, my guess is that it is his hip bone sticking out just a bit. However, if you can see his hip bones right around there and the lump is only on one side than it is something else. Marcia may have a better idea as to what that may be since I haven't ran into a problem like that yet. Good luck with him!

I agree with Joe on all counts. Hip bone was my first thought but as Joe said, if this is only on one side I would have it looked at.

Welcome to the forum, hope to hear from you often!

Substrate looks like Coir, and Nightcrawlers CAN live in it, red wrigglers even better
Superworms tent to pupate if they get lost for long (or so I have found)
Her/His color looks great
