Feeding Crickets

jwr0201 Jun 03, 2003 10:44 PM

How does everyone here feed crickets? Do you just put them in and leave them for about an hour and remove what you can find? Do you put one in at a time in frot of the leo? My leos are eating pretty well - one is a little shy, but eating 3-4 food items each night at 8 weeks old. The other two are little piglets - eating machines! RR

dust them, and estimate how many crickets a gecko will eat. wait about a hour and if theres still any left, I take them out.

I throw a few in each evening and then check to see what's left in the morning. If there are any crickets left then I toss them back in the cricket cage. A lot of people say that crickets annoy the geckos if they are left in the cage too long, but I worry more about the crickets not being gutloaded when the gex finally decide to eat them.

Hey,
I just put some crickets in there towards the night and in the morning they eat them. If he doesnt eat them by the morning he will withing a day or two. Thats what happened to mine. I put some in that night i got him and he didnt eat them till about 2 nights after. I got him last wednesday and he ate the crickets by friday. He has finally got use to the tank now although he will have to get used to another one because i plan on getting a 20 gallon long tank since i have a 10 gallon tank. I put a cricket in there like 1 P.M. eastern time today and i saw him eat it. I took the cave out so he couldnt go back in and the light was off for a moment till he ate. Then he ate it and all. I couldnt belive he could get the cricket and eat it in the day because since there nocturnal they eat and are active at night. It also could be the size because at first i got small crickets at a pet store but not at the one i worked at the time and then when he finally ate those 3 i gave my brothers the other small ones for his bearded dragon and got some large crickets at petsmart and since then he has ate them the same night i put them in or at least one or 2 or the 3 or 4 i put in there. So your best bet is to wait.I dont know why people say to take them out if they dont eat that night and u see them in the morning. I could see if they put like 12 in there but i only put 3 or 4 in there at a time and he eats them. You dont have to feed him but like ever other day. Since you have a leopard gecko have u breed them and if so can you give me the stuff i need to breed them. I know i need a nother gecko since i have a male i need a female.
