my 10 gallon setup

savigeckolvr Dec 26, 2003 11:57 PM

With my dad's help on cutting the tiles, my 10 gallon setup is complete now. I got the tile idea from this forum so just wanted to share how it turned out. I plan to do the twenty gallon I got for christmas the same way but the decorations will probably look better as it will have more room

The tile looks very good. That's a nice big poopie on it in the corner too LOL. You could maybe put some paper in that area, to make it easier for you to keep your tile clean. I also keep a thin plastic sheet under the paper in my tank.

Do you all find that a UTH gets the tiles up to the proper temp? If so, are you putting the UTH outside the tank, like normal, or doing something differently? Also, how do you cut the tiles? I'm really interested in doing the tile thing, but I'm worried about temps... Thanks in advance!

The uth is in the same place. I haven't noticed a difference in temps and it still gets warm like the paper towels did because i stuck my hand on the warms side to check. Just be sure to get thin tiles. My dad cut the tiles for me with a chop saw but they will also cut them for 25 cents at Lowes. The trouble is getting the measurements right. It took a few times of trimming to get the exact fit. I would suggest measuring the inside dimensions of the tank to help with that. Oh yeah and they are easy to clean up if you just take a piece of tissue or paper towel and scoop up the poopies you can't even tell it was there lol.
