Does anyone have any info on keeping North American red salamanders in captivity?

I've kept a few for short periods (before I give them away). They seem to do fine on crickets and wax worms. I kept them on bark with clay pot bottoms (upside down) for cover. Try posting to caudata.org, the people I have given them to and who have kept them for a while cruise that site a lot.

I've kept adults and larvae in the past. You can keep them terrestrial like Rust suggests, but if you want to breed them, you'll need a semi-aquatic or aquatic setup. Mine were 100% aquatic in captivity and I had them in a cold-water, fast flowing stream tank. They fed well on chopped nightcrawler, waxworms, etc.
