Eating

DeltaWoods Jun 03, 2003 11:11 PM

I am feeding my ball python live mice every 4 or 5 days. Within seconds of placing the mouse in the cage, my python attacks and kills it. Im serious, the mouse barely has time to look around before Delta (snakes name) has spotted it and attacked. I was wondering if this quick feeding response means that hes very hungry before i feed him or is he just an anxious eater. Also, one time a mouse went into Delta's rock hide and before i could even think to myself i wish he wasnt in there Delta had went in after him. The mouse must have been in the rock hide for only a second before Delta went in after him with more speed than usual. I was wondering if perhaps Delta was territorial about his rock hide and thats why he went in after the mouse so quickly? Thanks for any replies.

I have never heard of them being territorial. I don't think that is one of their instinctual drives like some animals. He was probably just afraid the mouse was going to get away. Didn't want to miss dinner! You are certainly blessed with a snake with a SUPER feeding response!
