Considering a Tangerine Honduran...

Tigergenesis Dec 27, 2003 02:46 PM

but after reading posts and caresheets I'd like to clarify:

1) the min cage size for an adult
2) do these guys need/like to climb making a rack tub a bad idea?
4) what percentage of humidity do they need?
5) am I correct in that they average more like 4 feet? and is there much of a size difference in males and females?

I'll have a Boaphile cage that is (36lx24wx10.5h). I'm trying to figure out if this is okay for an adult Tang Hond can live in? Probably a male.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey,

I would say that the minimal cage size for an adult would be a bout 3ftx1ftx1ft give or take some height.

They don't really like to climb, atleast mind don't they prefer to stay under their t-shirt sleeves and hang out all day, they don't even bask, but that is why I gave them black t-shirt sleeves so as the shirt absorbs some heat from the basking light. An undertank heater or heatpad would be ideal, though.

I would say the relative humidity in your room is fine for them, that is what I keep mine at and they usually have no problems shedding, if they do, I simply soak them and all is well.

That boaphile cage is plenty big for and adult honduran, they grow on average of about 4-4.5 feet, so yeah you are correct.

Good Luck!
Ralph

Thanks for the info. They are certainly beautiful snakes. Is there much of a size difference between males and females? What temps do you recommend for warm and cool sides?

Thanks

I don't think there is a big difference between males and females, maybe a few inches on average with the females being bigger? I'm not 100% sure.

I keep my basking spot at about 80-85 degrees and the other side of the tank is room temperature(around 70 degrees) and they are doing fine

Good Luck.
