Cage hardware

Steve G Dec 27, 2003 03:38 PM

Does anyone know of a source for those turn buttons that are used to secure cages with drop down front acrylic doors that are hinged at the bottom. I am looking for the ones that resemble a flattened wing nut. I can get them in zinc-plated metal at my local Home Depot, but I would prefer them in some sort of plastic to minimze scratching. The other way to go is to locate something similar to what Boaphile uses on their plastic cages. I like this type of turn latch, as no part of the latch mechanism contacts the clear front, but I'd like something a little less clunky looking for some smaller cages that I am putting together. Thanks in advance!

I looked all over for a plastic wing nut for my application but could not find anything I liked. However, be sure to check US Plastics, Outwater Plastics, etc., maybe you can find something new.

The thumb tabs in this picture were found at a Woodcraft or Rockler store in Indinapolis - can't remember which. Check both of their websites and I'm sure you can find something.

They are not quite what you are looking for but I think you'll like them. They are extremely secure.
