I know this isn't the insular epicrates forum because there isn't one but thought these could interest some people.

These are half siblings. Same father. The female is all grey, white and black. No brown at all.

These things are evil when they're babies. They act like everything is a predator. If you're thinking of getting a black mamba, get a baby angulifer first. They're evil and really fast and aggressive about it. They usually outgrow it as they mature. I have an older female that is much more calm.

She has slate blue eyes too.

kottonmouthking Dec 27, 2003 07:15 PM

This is what every other Cuban I've ever seen looks like.

They sure are evil! My female has outgrown the biting but not the musking! I'd rather be bitten than musked, it doesn't hurt very much and the musk smell is awful. For some reason, my male was calm even as a baby. Cubans are more like pythons than boas. They have the temper and growth of a retic, but luckily they calm down as they grow. That female is very interesting, I have never seen a Cuban colored like that. Let me know when she has babies, I would be interested in aquiring a pair. Thanks and good luck with your snakes!

Those Cuban are really nice, I need to get at least a pair for next year, Thanks again

That female is amazing.. I just bought 1.1 cb babies from Alex Hue, hopefully due next week.. Have been wanting some for a while. Now why are LARGE specimens so rare in captivity?? People need to feed these guys more! Supposedly the parents to those that Alex has for sale are 14 and 16ft..

Kestrel, you're right. I have no idea why there are no large specimens that are well known. They're such an obscure species that should be kept more. They're awesome and very interesting. I emailed Alex about those cubans he had. They were bred by Don Hamper who is like one of the very few people in the US that breeds Angulifer. And he sells them on his website when they're available for like $250, I believe. Which is what I've always seen them sold for and what I paid for mine. I don't know what's up with $65 a piece but I'm sure (hopefully) that won't become a trend. With a species that's so uncommon, when someone sells them for that cheap when they're worth so much more, it really influences people into thinking that's common.

Albinoman, my comment for you is that I'd be willing to part with my normal pair, the '03 male and '01 female, for what they're worth if you care. Thanks to both of you for appreciating them.

Yeah, I almost sh!t a brick when I saw them for 65 ea.. I wanted to buy a trio, but my paycheck sucked so could only afford a pair. lol. I asked him why he was selling them for so cheap but I don't think he answered.. And Don Hamper eh, thats interesting.. I asked him who produced them and he just said a friend of his.. Alex said "the friend" had some huge adults, and would ask him to take pics, but so far nothing has come of it.. I'm dieing to see them!! In my scrounging for photos of adults, the best pic I came up with was a little 100pixel pic on a research site of people in a boat holding a 12 footer that you couldn't really see well.. I'm dieing to see some good photos of big ol adults.. I think the people that DO have them(not necessarily you) are stunting them.. Hiss n Things has a female that they say is an adult, but they say "She is around 7ft and we don't plan on growing her any bigger" on the site.. Kinda sad..
