Rubbermaid lids

Kevin Saunders Dec 27, 2003 09:52 PM

I'm wanting to switch all my colubrids to plastic sweaterboxes, but I'm worried about the lids. Even the models with the clips on 2 ends lift up on the sides some. It's hard to tell how easy they would be to lift up from the inside. Does anyone else keep adult corns in these? I could use some input either way-I don't way to take any chances.

Kevin,
Most people don't use lids on their rubbermaids, as there is not much space for a snake to get out when the box slides into the rack. Now on the other hand if you're not using a rack, you will have to find a way to secure the lids to the box. I know what you mean about the lids not wanting to stay on the box. Try making you a rack that won't require a lid to be used.
Hope this helps!

Since I stack mine, I don't worry at all about any of the ones with a cage stacked on top of it. I weight the top ones down with phone books, etc. A friend of mine has hundreds of plastic totes in his snake room and seldom has an escape. He does NOT seem to weight down his top rows, and that's probably where his occasional snake gets loose. His snake room is secure, so he always eventually recovers his "lost" ones. Duffy

when stacking like that without a rack how do you heat all the sweater boxes?

Actually, I don't...I keep the room at a good temp, heating a few of the boxes with a uth under one side if needed.
