haha. tell her you will feed frozen mice so they wont be escaping. good luck. its impossible to change snake haters.

Just tell her that most Ball pythons are gentle, not at all vicious. Handle the snake you're thinking of buying first, and make sure it's not a skittish biter. One of those could turn your mom off to snakes forever!
Also make sure your prospect eats frozen/thawed mice. Ask to see it feed. Some only eat live, and you don't want that in your situation.
Goodluck!

Im going to be very straight forward with you.

Chances are slim that she will let you have any type of snake, doesnt matter, she dont like them, you wont get one. Even if you get one food is the problem. They stink if you get live ones...and storage becomes a problem if you buy frozen. 98% chance SHE WILL not want frozen rodents in the freezer.

and, i wouldnt not advise you on getting a ball python in the first place. You said "there are some downsides....the live over 20 years..."....YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SHORT TERM PET. you do not need a ball python for a short term pet. There are enough dead/going to be dead/very sick/on the verge of death ball pythons out there. Get a corn snake if you want a snake. they need less requirements. and are cheaper, eat smaller food (bps eat medium-large rats when full grown)....please, do not get a ball python. get a corn, or garter snake.
