Pictures of my new babies!

Aesear Jun 03, 2003 11:51 PM

these are my first two babies ever! I'm so excited about them. they're just normals but I think they're lovely and wanted to share them with you guys. both have had their first shed and one of them has eaten a couple small mealies and a pinhead. today they seemed really disinterested in the food though. Is this normal? I'd heard they were supposed to be voracious after their first shed. also, I've been handling them a couple times a day for bout a min or two to get them used to me. is this a good idea or does it just stress them out more? any info on raising babies would be REALLY appriciated. thanks guys!

VERY CUTE!!,
haha, I remember my first clutch. it was a awesome experience. Their eating habits are strange. They should start eating after their first shed. They wont starve themselves, as long as theres food around daily, they will eat. As for handling, I wouldnt handle them till theyre about 10 grams, reason being that they are so quick and you wouldnt want a hatchling gecko roaming around loose in your house.
hehe

I actually handle my hatchlings, usually when I change their paper towels or need to get them out of the humid hide when I need to mist it. Some people say not to, cuz it might add stress, but I think if you are quiet and gentle enough all should be well. Mine are doing just fine with being held. I'd like the hatchlings to be somewhat tame before they are sold. I know what its like to have a few geckos with "attitudes" on them and that dont like to be held at all....I have a few of those myself. :P One my my hatchlings that I am keeping back, I actually started taming the day after she hatched. She's always been calm since she was born, and now at almost 2 months old, she is sooo tame and its so nice to have a gecko that is tame and you can actually handle.
