breeding w/o brumation question

HfLAK Dec 28, 2003 08:32 AM

Has anyone successfully bred a pair of corns without brumanating them? The reason I ask, is because I have a pair of 02's that I was planning on breeding in '05 but they have grown so quick that I'm thinking about trying them this spring.
Of course, there's still time to brumate them this winter, but I'd rather continue to feed them and let them grow even more.

there are people who have done it and it was successful. I brumated mine last but i may not brumate them this year(i can't find a spot to put them where the temps are reliable)I have heard that fertility can be lower w/o brumation and that some won't even breed but I don't know how true this is or how often this occurs. I personally see no harm in letting them grow over the winter and trying to breed them in the spring. If they don't breed or you get a clutch of duds there is always the next year Good Luck
