found 2 VERY...skinny anoles....h e l p.

A somewhat crappy welcome back from vacation...I noticed a ton of my neighbor's leaves and branches from his tree in my backyard...and 2 skinny anoles sitting on the wall. One of the head's is larger than its body (i thought it was dead but opened its eyes vvvvvvvvery slowly), ribs clearly outlined, they are very weak and slow though one remains slightly fiesty. I've put them both under a lamp with some water but i doubt if they're up to eat anything. The skin on both of them is very wrinkled...they seem to have everything intact just...really skinny. I have 2 males and 1 female of my own so i'm just comparing the look and behavior..

You can try a drop of warm water in front of their noses (is pedialyte ok for anoles? I've used it with the uros...) if they are too weak to go find water on their own. You can offer teeny crix by hand, or with chopsticks. Some people also pull the big legs off, but I can't bring myself to do that. Someone recently had good success with chopped bits of waxworm, which is very fatty - good for getting some meat on bones. Good luck!

the state of the smaller anole is REALLY pathetic it won't do anything but sit there. i tried the warm water, part of a pinhead (dind't go too smoothly), and even a super tiny meal worm. She (i think its a female) doens't do anything and has been closing and opening her eyes verrry slowly...the slightly larger drank a ton of water, and somehow looks almost healthy again while basking under the lamp. He is getting quite active and things are looking bright for him (should i just put him back outside or what...?). what else can i try with the female?

if the bigger one seems to be able to get around and hunt for itself, it should be ok to go back outside. at least as long as it has had absolutely no contact with any of your captive herps - otherwise you could be introducing unfamiliar diseases or parasites to the native herps.

i'm not sure what else to suggest for the little one. maybe someone else knows what to do...?

good luck!
