I need help with my Morroccan!

urodad Dec 28, 2003 02:41 PM

I have a four year old morroccan uro who is sick. He was daignosed with gout about 14 months ago. He's been fine up untill a couple of weeks ago when we moved from San Francisco to Chicago. When he first arrived (he boarded there for a few weeks before coming here while we settled), he seemed to be fine; eating, active, responsive, proper metabolic activity. Now though, he just won't eat anything. He is still really active, almost spastic at times, but he isn't eating, isn't passing anything (there's nothing in there!) and his swollen limbs seem to be getting a bit worse. Is this the gout rearing its ugly head? Does anyone know of what I can do to help him? I've read only terrible things about gout, that it is terminal, but are there any ways to slow its progress more so than it has on its own?
Any advice would be appreciated.
John

Is he on medications for gout? There are several medications that help them excrete or inhibit the uptake of uric acid. These medications are usually taken indefinately for patients with gout. I would hook up with a herp vet in your area and get him checked out.
