Shedding problem

bencham Dec 28, 2003 05:24 PM

it has been about 2 weeks and my 4.5 month old veiled male has succesfully shedded all of his skin except for 2 black marks that are on each side of his middle side area about the size of ones fingernaik. Before this, he never had these marks, then in the sun, he would bask and get these marks- now they are constant. When he shed the skin around this area has not come of and i dont know what to do

any help appreciated, any one have a similar experience.?

thx

I'm not sure what the black marks are, but they might be bruises from falling in the cage or shipping or whatever else. And one thing I've noticed is that during a shed, the bruises almost always stick. If you put a thin layer of Vaseline on the spot(s) they'll come off in the next few days. Put it on once a day or so until he/she's done shedding.

The bruises do go away, but it takes a while. It seems like they get better with sheds but even then it takes a while. I had a female come to me in about July that had a small bruise on her side and even now, you can kinda see it still. It looks more like just another part of her pattern now, but if you saw her before when she had the bruise you would notice it's in the same spot and the same shape.

to lele --well now and then chams fall- at least mine always have.. when i visited hawaii and looked for jacksons in the pali mountains i saw them jump to the ground to avoid us.

branches fall/ silly chameleon attributes can turn into falls as well

so after the skin comes of and after each shed happens the bruises should become less noticeable....?

thx for the help
