My male FWC....

Yes, this is the guy that put me in the hospital a couple of months back! We have avoided that situation since...lol I'd have some pictures of his girl, but she didn't feel photogenic that day...Thanks and enjoy!

Interesting variation! Mine has (typical) much more brown on the neck. They do get nippy, mine nailed me twice (burned for a few minutes but that was it....3.5' male).

Thanks, he's around 6' long, and one day mistaken me for food when I tried to move him to clean the water tray(didn't realize I looked that much like a large rat). I got a rear-fang chewing for almost 5 minutes before I was able to get him off my hand. I had pretty severe swelling all the way up my arm. At one point the diameter of my hand measured 11" around! Joyous experience, not life threatening, but not something I care to experience again, especially one month after being tagged by a small copperhead!

That's a pretty healthy sized critter.
You might want to consider keeping a bottle of rubbing alcohol in your snake room. A very small amount dabbed near his mouth will make him turn loose from his bite rapidly and will not hurt him (the fumes do the job). It is a trick I have used for many years.

Yeah, I've heard that works and that liqour will work too, but the only liqour in my house is kept in the freezer and I didn't want to hurt him with the ice cold JD! I love him though, just gotta learn from my mistakes. Their appetite is like that of a gartersnake...a HUGE mildly venomous gartersnake...lol
