what monitor?

kalidraven Dec 28, 2003 08:17 PM

ive been thiking about a monitor, but a few factors come into play.

it cant get too big,i want my girlfriend to be able to hold it and she get intimitaded(sp?)easily if its too big.

what i mean my too big is something that is 3 feet.

something friendly or even tempered as well...remember the girlfriend?

food doesnt matter as i get all my mice for free from my sister so food consumption doesnt play a factor.

something that doesnt require a whole room sized cage, maybe a 55G or so,i do however have a 4x2x2 not in use so hopefully at most this will do.

what do you think?

well if i was you i would get an ackie they stay small and are very well tempered if this is your first monitor thats what i would start with then if you want something a little bigger go with a savana theyt are a good choice to ackie's are well tempered and stay relitvely small go to proexotics.com and check them out they have some yellow ackies right now i believe and red to good luck

i was thinking an ackies was a good choice as well,i was told there was an even smaller monitor but could have misunderstood what i was hearing.

but like i said as long as its tempermant is decent it should make a great pet for the both of us.

i just didnt want to end up with a monitor as evil as my tokays there small so they pose no threat me to.

my brother in-law keeps offering me a nile but i heard all types of bad things about thier nasty ill behaved tempers.

ill check that site out now and see what they have available....thanks for the reply

Niles get pretty huge anyway... ackies are cool because they're captive bred. That's tough to find in monitors.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

i had the same question you are
asking and after much research, especially
on kingsnake.com, i figured an ackie
was the best way to go.
i didn't want a pet that was
gonna take my hand off and
from what i hear ackies rarely bite if ever.
i wanted something relatively small too,
4ft. range at most.
Anyway, i went to the show in
deerfield on the 29th as posted on
the main page and the first booth i
went to had 3 baby red ackies for $145 each.
i couldn't find one anywhere, much less
under $300 and the ones i saw on the
net for sale weren't babies.
needless to say i am very grateful to
this site for the information it
provided me before i made my
purchase and now i have a baby ackie.
here's some pics.
no name yet, anyone have suggestions?
oh, and goodluck, i think your best
bet for a purchase will be at the shows.

here's another pic, this one may help put
him to scale a little better.

thanks for the pics as they gave me a better idea of them.
