Winter Hunger Strike......question.

marvass Dec 29, 2003 12:26 AM

I know it's normal for BP's to refuse food during the winter. And I will try to offer my snake some food once in awhile just incase. but i just wanted to know.....When do they usually go back to eating normally again?

usually when it starts warming up.
If you are not breeding you can up your temps and keep them at a constant 90-95 degrees (hot side 80-85 cool side)give it about a month and it should be ready to eat again. The heat raises the snakes metabolisim.

Whenever it starts getting warmer is when they usually pick back up. As long as they are a healthy weight don't worry about them not eating. I know someone that their bp went off food for close to 2 years........
