I just thought of something I almost overlooked!

When gutloading Crickets, do we need to use organically grown foods? Also, you know I think I read somewhere that organically grown foods have not a very strict certification process and still can have "things" in/on it that could be insecticide like. What do you guys do before throwing some vegetables in w/ the cricks? Or do you wash with an insecticide remover and nix the organically grown foods? Thanks-Maggie

Maggie - glad you care! I buy organic for myself as much as possible so the crix get the same stuff I eat! But wash/rinse foods anyway. If you cannot get certain foods that are organically grown wash them well. prepare them the same as you would for a child or yourself. Hey, aren't you in So. Cal??? You shouldn't have any problem finding organic and if you are into gardening could easily grow much of your own.

I am sure some folks do not bother to do this and that is their choice. I make the choice of controlling the amount of synthetic chemicals, that I or any of my critters ingest, the best I can. Unfortunately, there are certain ones we can't avoid so why not make a healthy choice when you can - for you and your herps

here is a site with info and MANY great links!

Makes perfect sense to me, Lele. It seems, there are so many other factors that we can not control with the raising of the Chams, that here is one that we can do something with. Just wanted to know if I was worried for nothing though, as it seems I haven't read any info on the concerns of this anywhere. But then, I thought about how we Dart Froggers don't use wild caught bugs in areas that are sprayed, and I wondered then what the difference is going into a store and buying sprayed foods to feed to crix, right? Thanks for the info Lele! I hope Luna's feeling better today-you're such a good mommy! Maggie
