It's because the "Pro-venomoid" crowd is voting multiple times. The poll will allow you to vote once a day from a given IP address.
Personally, I don't think this will reflect an accurate sample of the feelings of the membership. It simply turns into a contest of who has the most time on their hands to repeatedly vote for what they want. Only allowing one vote period from a particular IP address would help some, but some people would simply log in from another computer and vote again.
If you want your vote to count, apparently you need to duplicate it several times.
As Chicago Mayor Richard Daly is credited with once saying: "Vote early and vote often."
Just wondering, cause I havent seen your mug in a while! Hahaha.
I am strongly against chopping up an animal just so you can freehand it but think about it this way. If the people that are for it have their own forum then you wont have to deal with them here.
But that is just my take.
Thanks
E.
Its promoting the mutilation of snakes. How many newbies do you think hop around here? I would imagine alot. If those guys get there own forum(voice), then they can influence more people to support their opinion. Im sure there are MANY people who could be easily swayed to think that this procedure is a good one. I just see it snowballing. Stop em dead in their tracks!
If they get their own forum it will just represent more justification of their beliefs.
)
you can vote over and over so its not a true poll.
or the few venomoiders would not have a chance.
jeff is caving into the venomoide money factor thats all.
deep down he knows its wrong but oh well its his site.

No, it's really not an accurate poll, but I can't think of a way to keep someone who determined from voting multiple times online. There's just too many simple ways around any controls they could put in place.
You know, I can sort of understand why KS doesn't take a stand for, or against venomoids. Their role is just to run a forum and keep it under control as best they can as far as keeping the discussions civil and unoffensive, while trying to look out for the best interest of the forum itself. Tough job. They can't really take sides on an issue like this because of the vastly differing opinions of the membership. Different people have differing values.
Because of that difference, this is one of those arguments that just can't be won by either camp. It's sort of like arguing abortion, religion or politics, or hybridizing snakes. You and I may see clearly what's right or wrong from our viewpoint, but the other side sees it just as clearly from a diametrically opposed viewpoint. They are just as convinced that they are right as we are. There is no way that either side is going to change the mindset of the other. The only thing that can result from these kinds of discussions is flaring tempers, flames, and hard feelings. In the end, the opinions about the issue have not changed, but the opinions about each other have.
If you think about it, that difference of opinion, viewpoint and values is a good thing. Everyone may not agree on things like this, but we can all agree that at least we have the right to have those differences. What's right or wrong is not being mandated.
My personal opinion is that surgically altering a snake to make him venomoid is something that should not be done. Just like I think that creating unnatural hybrids just for our own amusement or profit is wrong and potentially dangerous. But that's just my opinion, and the next guy is just as entitled to his opinion as I am.
When I first read about this vote for a new venomoid forum, I was dead-set against it. I was of the opinion that to give the venomoiders a forum of their own would be encouraging this practice. Now, I'm not so sure about that. We all know that we can do nothing to stop it or change the opinions of those that are for it. Even the newcomers are going to form their own opinions regardless of what you or I, or a venomoider say about it. Whatever values they are going to use to make that decision, they already have. Maybe it's not such a bad idea for them to have a place they can go and venomoid all they want to. They are going to purchase their venomoids no matter what you or I say, and there's going to be a vet or hack-shop somewhere that's willing to perform the surgery until there's some sort of legislation to prevent it. When KS started the Hybrid Forum, I noticed that the flame wars about Hybrids in the regular forums decreased dramatically. I don't really see any evidence that the creation of that forum has increased the number of people creating Hybrids.
Just a thought...
