Repti Halogen Bulbs

Dose anyone use these bulbs made by zoomed i just use regular spot bulbs for heat and have an 8.0 florscent uv bulb 16 in away from the basking site do i need to buy one of these lights

hi; i use the regular spot lamps that
you get at any department store or home
improvement store. i never had one of
repti halogens last more than 30 days,so
i stick with the cheap spot lamps for
heat. just becareful on the wattage and size cage so you get the right temp.
i also use full spectrum floresents as well.

halogen bulbs are great, but you don't need any "reptile specific" ones, just regular ole' halogen floods from Home Depot work great, and they are $3-4 ea.

be sure to use a FLOOD bulb though, and NOT the spot. the spot has too narrow a focus, and can cause severe burning problems. the floods have a wider light cast.
