My husband's site has been hosted by them for about six years now. I was with these guys for several years, switched last year, and am about to switch back.
They say "unlimited hits" and it does seem to be the case. At one point my love's site was getting 10k hits a day. They do charge another $12 for email forwarding bringing the grand total to about $2 a month .... even if you add in a couple of other options (and they do kinda try and nickle & dime you up to a higher total), I still don't think they can be beat.
They respond to emails within a few hours, have been very communicative and helpful when we had questions. There's not a single thing I can honestly say against them.

I used Doteasy for a while and while it's cheap, they charge quite a bit for the domain name and don't give you many features. You end up paying extra for a cgi-bin, if that matters. I don't remember them having much of a control panel, either.
I hosted through Advanced Internet Technologies for a few years, but ended with them because I wanted to host multiple domains and it wasn't going to be cost effective with them.
So, now I host through Dreamhost and have found them to be everything I ever wanted and more. I'm currently hosting 4 websites through them and very happy. They keep increasing the stats, also. When I renewed my plan this year, I actually dropped my price but doubled my storage space and disk usage. They also run the excellent Dreambook web guestbook site, which you don't even need to be a customer to use. You get full customization, and if you host w/them, there are no ads. You can see my Dreambook here. It's pretty cool even if you don't host with them.
I think you should really shop around, Marty. Most websites herp people have aren't even over 25-50mb, and probably don't use that much bandwidth. Keep this in mind when you're pricing different levels of hosting. I'd guess you could get away with less than $10 a month, easily. Good luck.

Thier control panel is top notch, they're hosting is free once you buy a domain name. Although the domain names cost $18 rather that $10 from someone. You don't have to keep paying a monthly fee for hosting, it comes with it!!!
And on top of that, thier premium account, at only 7.95 a month, comes e-commerce ready, is a million times better than godaddy, it has 100 pop e-mail accounts, cgi, php, MySQL databases and everything you'd need to make a big website. I build websites, and I recommend them.

As I said, I have 4 websites right now and Doteasy worked for me for a little while(until I wanted to use SSI and CGI scripts and when I wanted to put all my sites on one host). The 'free' webhosting is very sparse. If you have only html, and don't mind outsourcing any scripts or using SSI, I guess it is free. I wanted to run my own scripts and have better customer service, as I'm sure many people on here would(very few web designers/professionals). Doteasy had a hard time answering my emails/support requests or solving my issues when they did respond. They also didn't have a support phone number.
Their uptime was less than stellar, but what you'd expect for a 'free' site. I noticed my sites were down; and I typically don't visit my sites regularly.
Stupid doteasy advertisement on emails.
This was my experience and my opinion is you can get a better deal elsewhere. If money is the bottom line and support/uptime/features don't matter, perhaps Doteasy is a good deal. But, it's not free, you at least have to pay to register or transfer your name.

I use Yahoo and so far everything is great. I like the idea of using a large, well known, company that isn't going to dissapear.
They might now be as cheap as some of the others, but at under $10/month it doesn't break the bank.
