I am not sure if this was answered in the original thread, but are the albino beardeds that were pictured inside or outside of Australia?

These current ones are in Australia, and are the only ones that we know of so far that are from unrelated parents and healthy.
There have been albino babies hatch several times, but did not or where reported to not have survived. From what I know, those were all close relation breedings.
All of them that we know of that have hatched, have come from gold/yellow parents, not white ones like many people think may have eventually produced them.
We know that there are silbings from parent that produced albinos in other countries besides Australia and we suspect some albino's themselves have been taken out of Australia last year. For obvious legal reasons, that is not going to be publicly acknowledged.
I think it is just a matter of time, before we start seeing them hatching and thriving here if careful breeding is practiced with the recessive gene and they are not inbred in too eager a process to produce more. It will take several generations to bred that recessive gene and produce hets that will eventually produce healthy albinos.

I suspected that they might be from Australia, oh well bad news. Unless they are smuggled out they will not make it here. Perhaps they will pop up in Germany, they seem to have a pipeline for smuggled herps that ends there.

All the reptiles we have that came from Europe, entered into Europe and the US legally.
Germany is the leading area of the world to study hepetology outside of Australia, so they do have more species and access to more than other places, for that reason, not smuggling.
Actually, the smuggling route is through mostly Dutch colonies and Indonesian owned islands, as they are easy to move through those located near Australia, so more enter through the Netherlands and Southeast Asia illegally, not Germany.

Hi CheriS,
I just wanted to ask how and where do you find dragons for sale in Europe? Are there any “Big name” dragon breeders that are accessible and how is shipping possible? Or are there any Big Reptile shows that you can find top quality morphs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Canada and I have gone to great lengths to get the dragons I have and a trip to i.e. Germany sounds like quite an adventure!!
I just wanted to say thank you for all your helpful advice over the past!! I have befitted from you advice time and time again!!

We ship from Europe with Delta, they have animals shipping program.
It's different if you own the animals and are flying with them or if you are purchasing them and having them shipped to you. Contact Delta and they can explain and set you up which one you need.
When we bring them in, they are through a University or whoever we are purchasing them from, with an exporter on that end and an importer on this end, they handle all the details....lol, we just pay the bill!
You can check on other forums to meet people that breed them in other countries, even on this forum there are people in Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium etc.

From all the information that I can gather the australian government has not allowed export of any pogona for many years. Perhaps Paul from sandfire can shed some light on this.
-----

the country, not only for export but also collecting in the wild by residents, but like all regulations there are exceptions to them through the proper channels and authorities.
That is for Australia's own safety due to problems in the past with animals that were brought into the country and caused problems.
My main point is that just because something comes to Germany, does not make it smuggled.. it is a leading herpetological area and one of the few places that leads the world outside of Australia in reptile husbandry and research, of Australia's native fauna.
I know that many reptiles have come into Germany and legally. They also have come into the US, its just knowing how and going through the proper steps

I agree with Cheri on all points made. Only one question.. you said the albinos are from unrelated parents but there is a locality known to produce albinos in the wild. If this is true then it is likely that the parents to the albinos are related in some way, maybe not siblings but still related, right?

If they are not within the 5th degree of relationship, I nor most consider them related, you have a wide genetic diversity from 6th generation and on... 5th to 1st generation would be cousins or closer. These babies are also not related several generations back or are they related to the ones that were hatched in January of 2002. I think het's exist more common in that area that many people realize and have existed for a long time, just not two of them in captivity bred until recently to produce albino's.
We have known for at least 4 years, almost 5 now, there where dragons in that area that were het and it was just a matter of time before they started showing up in captivity. Field researchers have found them several times, but sadly only the deceased bodies and in a wide range in New South Wales. There are several area groups of very pale yellow dragons there, hundreds of miles apart that have been found in the same area that deceased albino's were found in.
This past year I contacted several photographers that live in NSW and have been getting pictures of the pale gold and yellow dragons for months now from them (a lot of orange too and a few white)plus tracking the range they are in.
Hehe... Paul, wanna make a research trip with me?
