Taeniura Mocquardi

RandyWhittington Dec 29, 2003 09:48 PM

Since there are so few pictures of Mocquard beauty snakes posted on the forum I thought I would post several pictures of them showing different sizes, colors and ages.
They are a very secretive subspecies of taeniura usually hiding whenever someone comes into the room, even as adults and when captive bred.
They come from southern China, the very northeast tip of Vietnam and the island of Hainan just off the southern coast of China. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

It looks like this girl will have more of the gold color over the full length of her body that the albino male has on his head and neck. It will be interesting to see how she looks as she grows. Randy W.

This bloodline is not as light yellow as the others. It's markings look very different and this line does not get as large as all the others. I dont think they will get over 6ft.

Nice snake...the reason it looks different from from other mocquardi is because it is not a mocquardi (at least not in the pure form). This specimen looks a lot like the yunnanensis from the Hong River region in Northern Vietnam. I would be intersted to know the origins of this animal.
