OT - a pretty cool looking crested gecko - partial pinstripe .. .

powergeckos Dec 30, 2003 02:39 AM

. . . I picked this one up from Philippe DeVosjoli of "giantgeckos.com" - it's a partial pinstripe - look at the back of the head along the crests - that's what they mean by pinstripe. A full pinstripe has it running the length of each side of the crest.

This one has a lot of other interesting things going on - from the creaming stripe - to the harlequin sides - just a pretty gecko. Very tame, too.

I like them more and more and more . . . .

You are very right. I'm falling hard for the Rhacs in general. What type of cages do you keep yours in. I have recently switched to 24 x 16 x 16 screen cages. I have one right now that I have been using as a test cage. It works great! I have 4 more on order and plan to keep ordering them as I need them. No more sterilites for mee...lol. I will take a pick of my set up later on. Good luck with the new gecko Monte.

I thought you were using the cage from Cham condo? I saw a testimonial from you. I still haven't settled on a particular brand - but I like the height of this one, which is 24 inches high.

I like rhacs, because with my leo projects - they don't take a lot of extra prep as far as heating/lighting goes. IN my herp room, the racks throw off enough heat to keep my small room at a perfect temperature - so it's very cool that way.

I do get them from cham condo, he makes them custum for the same price. By the way, were all the holes pre-drilled? The bad experience I had with the one you have was over a year ago, and I was wondering if they changed their design. My cage only had pre-drilled holes in the first panel. The panel you were drilling into did not. Now I'm pretty handy with tools, but by time I finished assembling the cage it was not squared up right and as a result the doors were useless. Anyway, good luck with the new guy.
p.s. I got my first clutch of eggs from my trio of striped gargoyles!

Hmmm, interesting. All the holes were pre-drilled, except for the ones on the hinge, which I found odd. I did notice some drill debris still clinging to the holes, but that was easily fixed. I do like the design of the cage, and personally like the people, who have great customer service.

To be honest, I did some research on that other site, and didn't like what I saw from your guy - and that made my decision. You had a good experience though? He will make them 24 inches high? I don't want a 30 incher I guess.

I'll have to contact you via email to discuss this more. Thanks for the info.
