snakes not so hard to find

Linzoy Dec 30, 2003 10:37 AM

My sister lost my ball python a few days ago. I've looked EVERYWHERE several times, but he still hasn't turned up. I'm not going to give up on him, but when I buy another snake I want it to be one that won't be so hard to find if it gets lost. I was thinking of a blood python, they look too fat to squeeze into any really tight spaces, or an arboreal species that isn't as shy as a ball. Any ideas??

where was the snake when it was lost

He was in a bowl in my living room. My sister was drawing him but she has no attention span. I would never let her do that without me watching, but I was at the movies.

Yes. My idea is NOT to concentrate on buying a snake that will be easier to find if/when he escapes...You should be putting your thoughts into making sure that this one stays put. After reading your "lost snake" post, I would say that your efforts need to start with your TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE SISTER!!! You need to have some kind of guarantee that she will not mess with your snake if you are not right there with her and giving your permission and full attention. If you can't get a certain level of confidence that she will not pull such a stupid stunt again, you may need to forget about owning a snake for awhile. Talk to your parents (I am assuming that you still live at home) about what the consequences will be if your sister ever messes with your pets without your permission again. How old is she, that she would take a snake out and just, I don't know, forget about it. I have 2 sons, 7 and 13, and they would never DREAM about taking a snake out without my permission. You know what the problem is...deal with it! Good luck, and I hope your lost snake turns up soon. Maybe you will wind up with 2 snakes. Maybe you could trade your sister for one. Duffy

do you have any other pets?look in dark places like under furniture

You're right, but my sister is sort of a problem that's extremly differcult to deal with. She's 13.

a cage that locks!!! I know its frustrating for you, especially if your folks aren't supporting your wishes to keep lil' sis out the snake cage. I would suggest getting a locking cage before you decide to make another purchase.

Just MHO!! Good luck and hope you find the lost snake!!

That's not really going to stop my sister, but I'll probably end up buying one anyway.

when my old kingsnake got out I used my dog to find him and when she found him I pulled her back and got my snake back, after he got out twice I put forty pounds on top of his cage
