Need help/advice on Taiwan.

crom Dec 30, 2003 11:00 AM

First I'd like to say this is my first post but I've been following this forum for some time and have enjoyed it immensely, learning from the rest of you has saved me considerable heart ache. On to my question, I have a Taiwan Beauty snake that I am very fond of. She has a kink or hump in her spine like I've never seen before in a snake, its like her vertebae is out of alinment. She eats fine and is very mobile but its got me worried. If there were snake chiropractics she'd be there. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Her kink is about dead center, the funny thing is her belly pulls up right underneath the kink, I feel like one good back adjustment would fix her up but I'll leave her be.

My female yearling has a very small kink about an inch from the vent between it and the tip of the tail. It looks like nothing to worry about to me.

Sounds like a birth defect. A lot of times the snakes are fine with it. A guy told me that snakes will grow out of them sometimes, but I think he was just trying to sell me some indigo snakes.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

I had a Honduran milk snake that grew out of a kink and went on to be a great feeder and reliable breeder.

After reading yours and the other replys, I'll relax and let nature take her course since this appears to be nothing more than a cosmetic problem. Thanks for answering, I really appreciate it.
