I have a 6 month old BW tegu. I got him about 3 weeks ago, and he has been in hibernation ever since. Yesterday when I was misting his burrow, he came jumping out of the substrate and was walking around for about an hour. He seemed very alert, eyes wide and tongue flicking around like crazy. I offered several different kinds of food, but he refused them. I checked on him after he went into his burrow, and he had made a bowel movement. Does this mean he has been active and eating for some time now? Don't they begin hibernation with an empty digestive track to prevent stomach rot? Is there anything special I should do for him if he is preparing to end his hibernation? Thanks in advance.
