Croc Monitor....

junebug Dec 30, 2003 05:49 PM

Hello,

New here, quick question. I have a 5 year old son and wanted to know if a croc monitor would be good for him. Some guy at a pet shop told me they get tame quick and are personable. Can they live in a 20 gallon there whole life? If no good I will probably get a leopard gecko, they are supposed to be good too.

thanks

HAHAHA
I really do hope that post was a joke because if some guy at a pet store thought that a croc moinitor is a good pet for a 5 year old go to that store and knock that person out
HAHAHA
FIRST OFF (just for your info)
Croc monitors are very large very dangerous animals if not in the right hands they EASILY exceed 6 feet in length and are arboreal (live in trees)... There have also been studies showing that croc monitors can exceed lengths larger then Varanus Komodonesis (Komodo Dragons) making them potentially the longest (not largest) lizards in the world...
An Enclosure for a fully grown Crocodile monitor needs to be of massive proportions I would have to say at least 15-20' long by 7-10'deep by 6-10' tall EVEN BIGGER POSSIBLY...
Please for ythe good of all reptile keepers have that store shut down
get your kid a leopard gecko...
HAHAHA
i cant beleive the stupidity behind that salesperson
COMPARING A LEOPARD GECKO TO A CROC MONITOR
HAHAHA
I hope i helped you out
