Seperate Pictures Forum?

clickman Dec 30, 2003 07:20 PM

Probably an idea that will be ignored with all the pictures,b ut...

Is it possible that there could be a seperate Leo picture forum? All the pictures (And their subsequent generic comments) take up alot of space and I find legitimate questions are pushed down and ignored.

Truthfully most of the questions that are asked on the forum can be answered by doing a search. I have done my fair share of answering questions on this forum for quite a few years, and I know those posts are quite easy to find by doing a search.

I post pictures of my geckos becasue I am excited about them and I want to share my excitement with others on the forum. If there are several others that agree with you that pictures posted on here take up to much space I would like to offer not to post them here anymore. I certainly do not want to be the reason that legitimate posts are ignored, although I do firmly believe that myself and others have a right to post pictures of my leos on this board.

So, Leo Forum posters, what do you think?

I like posting pictures on here to get everyone's feedback and it's just nice to be able to share them with everyone as well. Frankly, the Photography Forum on KS sucks most of the time because it's littered with 'Test' posts. I still go there, but don't expect to see many leopard geckos. I think the photo posting option is here for a reason and we should use it.

Kelli's right, most questions we see on this forum can be answered with the search function. I've personally been on here learning and answering questions since 1999, before there even was a Leopard Gecko forum.

But, if a majority of users here don't want to see the pictures, I'll agree to cut back (can't quit completely, yet).

I love looking at everybody's pictures. Leopard geckos are the cutest little things i think. I just wish i could've captured all of my geckos cute poses on camera.

It's a real treat being able to see the pictures posted by amateurs and breeders alike. The exposure enables me to see what's possible for leo varieties. I wouldn't be able to get a good sample of what's out there just based on what I see in Reptiles magazine, other sites, or at shows.

I come here as much for the poictures as for type posts- pictures are information, it's great to see what people are working on and they often lead to interesting discussions.

Frankly I think they are more important than the slew of questions people ask that cajn be answerred easily by getting the leopard gecko manual, reading almost any basic care sheet, or doing a search on the forum. At least the pics are new information and not repetitive. Get rid of pics and I think you'll find that lots of the perople who have the answers to the "important" questions don't come here anymore.

My opinion would be that pics are just as important as the written stuff. I also can say that a message i posted this morning is already near the bottom of the page........so many posts turned up today that it got pushed down........do i care.........no. It got read and answered. I'm sure it was read by many people who got to share in my funny story. Thats all that mattered

As for pics.......i wish i had a digital camera cause i'd be posting like crazy......my guys are always striking up a pose thats absolutely adorable and i would love to share.

We post the pics to get input and, well in my case, show off the little guys that give us so much joy.
