Unfortunately, we live in a society where instant-gratification is the primary definition of happiness. I'm in a similar boat, although my circumstances are quite different. I have to wait for my husband to retire from the military so we can find a permanent home before I can own the snakes I want and start up the breeding projects I dream of. That's about twelve years or more away.
It stinks to think about how long that is...but it's great to know that if I'm still as excited about snakes then as I am now (and I truly believe I will be), then I'll know for certain that I'm making the right choice to take on that sort of responsibility for these beautiful and long-lived animals.
It's ok to wait until you're grown and have your own place and can make your own decisions about what animals you will keep. In the meantime...educate yourself and make your plans. When the time comes, you'll be way ahead of the game, both in knowledge and commitment.
Good luck...
Judy

I had the same problem with my mother when I first decided I wanted I wanted a Ball python. I didn't have a problem with my dad though. After a few years of begging I finaly got one for Christmas. Everyone was shocked my mom let me have one she still won't go near it when I am handiling it though. The only reason she got it for me is because the other gift I wanted was more expensive
