I purchased on Ebay, for $32 including shipping, an Ultralux M.V. bulb. It seems to have the same specs as all the other ones. Well, I put it above my veilds cage, and 20 minutes later, he had livened up, his color had improved, and he went out of his way to bask in the rays of this bulb, whereas he had usually just stood there for the icandecent bulb. PLUS, he has been much more active, in many ways. I had my female deremensis out, and he went nuts to try to get her...I have pictures, it's really funny. She was totally indifferent to him, but if she sees anything wiht a fin and 3 horns, she gets EVIL....female deremensis have the nastiest non-receptive behavior. they turn BLACK, gape, lunge, and stick their tongues out...really scary. They bite too... when my male died, some scars became visible, and they were shaped like her huge mouth. ok....I went off topic again....too much caffiene...
The picture I have posted below, and I'll re-post it here is after 2 days of living under the 100W bulb. I can see if I have any before pics for comparison. But before I used the MV bulb, he showed nice colors at night, but during the day, he showed brown, maroon, black, and that's it. Now, his normal, rest, non--displaying colors are like this, only actually better, cause I had crappy lights in the room...
