Pretty cool story on these geckos. The darker one - the female - was given to me from John Meltzer when I moved to Mankato to be a campus pastor. We had a salt water tank that NO ONE took care of - and I wanted something unique and cool for students to look at in the church lobby. So John gave me this female. We had a naming contest for the college students - and at that time "Geico" was a popular name - so 4 gals came up with it and won 4 large pizza's for the effort.
Later that winter - there were a rash of suicides of high school students at the former city where I was a pastor. They called me back to speak at a suicide prevention conference at this school - and after I was done speaking - John handed me this deli cup with this cool looking yellow/lavendar male in it. It was about 10 below that night - so off I drove, 2 hours, with Studley nestled in my jacket as i drove home.
Later that spring - as we were coming out of Ash Wednesday services at the college chapel - one of the students yelled "HEY, they're doing it." Therefore, the 1st clutch of eggs born of Geico and Studley were aptly named "Ash" and "Wednesday".
Sorry for the long post, but it's a cool story - well, at least I think it is. They are my favorite geckos - and still crank out really, really nice lavender babies. I think I will put them together this year.
